GHAZNI, Afghanistan, July 21 (Xinhua) -- A total of 15 Taliban fighters were confirmed dead as their own mine went off prematurely in the eastern Ghazni province on Saturday, provincial governor's spokesman Aref Nuri said Sunday.

"A Taliban suicide bomber was going to say goodbye with his comrades before reaching his target in Nawa district on Saturday morning but his vest exploded prematurely killing 15 insurgents including the suicide bomber," Nuri told Xinhua.

The official didn't provide more details. Taliban militants are yet to make comment.
