NANJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Based on an agreement between the Chinese and U.S. militaries, the two sides are holding a joint exercise on humanitarian aid and disaster relief in Nanjing, eastern China's Jiangsu Province.

Over 200 military personnel from the army under the Chinese People's Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command and the U.S. Army Pacific are taking part in the exercise, which runs from Nov. 12 to 19.

The exercise aims to share experiences in international humanitarian aid and disaster relief and cultivate the willingness and capabilities of the militaries in joint action in this area.
