JAKARTA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Changning, one of the key members of the Chinese women's national volleyball team, will skip the 2018 Asian Games due to an injury, the Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA) said on Thursday.

According to the CVA, Zhang picked up a knee injury during a recent training session in Ningbo, Zhejiang province of China.

The Chinese team thus decided to pull Zhang out of the Asiad in order to have rehabilitation training and to tune up for the World Women's Volleyball Championship to be held in Japan from Sept. 29 to Oct. 20.

Zhang has been a key spiker for the Chinese team that won the golds at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

She underwent a surgery last October after an injury and only returned to the national team in July this year. Enditem
