MADRID, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares dropped on Wednesday with the benchmark index Ibex-35 down 0.26 percent, or 25.70 points, to close at 9,747.10 points.

A total of 21 of the selected 35 large companies lost in the day.

Spanish real state company Merlin Properties lost 1.38 percent, being the top loser of the session. Siderurgical company ArcelorMittal went down 1.36 percent and Spanish bank Bankia was down 1.31 percent.

Spanish television network Mediaset advanced 1.83 percent, followed by renewable energy group Siemens Gamesa and supermarket chain DIA that rose 1.49 percent and 1.18 percent respectively. Enditem
