TOKYO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as investors were concerned about the ramifications of U.S. President Donald Trump deciding to withdraw the United States from the Iran nuclear deal.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 99.81 points, or 0.44 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 22,408.88.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.91 points, or 0.39 percent, to finish at 1,772.91

Pharmaceutical, electric power and gas, and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
