SINGAPORE, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went up 0.39 percent or 13.38 points to close at 3,479.76.

A total of 1.57 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.19 billion Singapore dollars (about 907.95 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 249 to 189.

The STI index closed up 0.48 percent or 16.42 points to close at 3,466.38 on Tuesday.
